From Bangladesh part, apparel products-sweaters, shirts, T-shirts, polo shirts, sweaters, trousers, knit and woven-would be displayed in the show at Las Vegas Convention Centre.
A number of Bangladeshi apparel exporters are taking part in the show, which will help Bangladesh get export orders from the US market, resulting in Dhaka-Washington business transitions worth millions.
Talking to BSS, Md Monzurul Hassan, Chairman of Maya Fashions Enterprises Ltd (MFEL), an exhibitor of the show, said, “We’re participating for market exposure and marketing our products basically to let the buyers know what kinds of products Bangladesh is offering.”
“We want to tell the world’s leading buyers that Bangladesh is now more compliance concern and the country has taken the must-address issue very seriously as this social issue is now a critical business issue,” said Hassan, whose company is specialized on sweater products.
Compliance has become a big concern for Bangladeshi apparel players while marketing merchandise, he said adding “the main objective of our participation is to project before the foreign buyers that we’re responsible supplier. Keeping this view into consideration, we prepared our booth banner inscribed with ‘we are fully compliant.”
He said his company is scheduled to meet a number of buyers in the show to discuss on products and orders.
Gazi Mohammad Monsur, managing director of Funny Sweater Ltd., another participant, said procuring orders from prospective buyers is the main expectation from the fair.
Because of global financial recession and soaring cotton price in the world market, Bangladesh couldn’t get expected spot orders. But, Monsur said, expectation of Bangladesh participants from this show is high this time.
