ICC Women's World T20 qualifier: Bangladesh crush Thailand by 73 runs

Bangladesh ensured a winning start in the ICC Women’s World T20 Qualifier crushing host Thailand by 73 runs at the Thailand Cricket Ground in Bangkok on Saturday.
Replying to Bangladesh a decent total of 105 runs in the Group-A first qualifying match, Thailand were folded their innings for 32 in 14.4 overs including humiliating six-wicket departures for duck.
Number four player Chandia Sutthiruang was the only double figure scorer with 13 off 18 balls was also hit the only four.
Conceding a super economic one run, Ritu Moni and Fahima Khatun grabbed two wickets respectively in 1 and 1.4 overs.
Rumana Ahmed also grabbed two wickets for 5 runs in 3 overs while Jahanara Alam took one wicket for 3 runs in 2 overs.
Bangladesh scored a decent total of 105 runs for 6 in 20 overs, the side was sent in to bat first.
Bangladesh set a good starting note as their opening pair between Ayasha Rahman and Sharmin Akhter who carried the team total to 38 in 6.5 overs.
Opener Ayasha Rahman scored the highest 30 off 32 balls involving two fours and later she was adjudged player of the match.
Number five Fargana Hoque hit unbeaten 23 off 21 runs with one four while Shaila Sharmin (17 off 32b) and Sharmin Akhter (12 off 16b) were the other double digit scorers for Bangladesh.
Delivering 4 overs eac, Suleeporn Laomi and Nattaya Boochatham grabbed two wickets apiece for 17 and 22 runs respectively.
Bangladesh will play their next group match against Scotland at 9:00am (Bangladesh time) at Asian Institute of Technology Ground, Bangkok on Sunday.
Four Women’s teams are competing in the group-A including Bangladesh, Thailand, Scotland and Papua New Guinea.
