Bangladesh COVID-19 cases cross 10,000, 5 more die in 24hrs

Bangladesh on Monday reported more five coronavirus infected patients’ death and new 688 new cases of infection from the virus in the last 24 hours.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed it in a press briefing in Dhaka.
“The death toll reached 182 while the total number of infected now stand at 10,143,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, during the briefing.
This is the biggest single-day spike in infections since the first cases of the virus were reported on March 8.
 Professor Sultana said, total 6,260 people were tested at 33 authorised laboratories across the country since Sunday, which is 16.61 percent more than the previous day.
Meanwhile, 147 more Covid-19 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours. It has taken the total recovery number to 1,209.
She said that another 90 suspected COVID-19 patients were taken into isolation, raising the total to 1,636.
