Senior batsman Mahmdullah Riyad showed his urgency to get fit as early as possible in a bid to make him available in Bangladesh’s crucial game against India on Tuesday at the Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Seeing him to try hard to be fit for India match, Bangladesh team management is confident that they will get the service of the senior player who has the ability to take the opponents bowling in disdain in the death overs.
He would have to go through a fitness test to make him available for the match. Mahmudullah’s availability in the must-win game against India remained a major concern for Tigers as he suffered calf muscle injury during their last game against Afghanistan and later it was revealed that he had sustained grade 1 tear.
BCB officials were in a dilemma more so after he was seen walking in a crutch following morning but they seemed to be heaving a sigh of relief as he joined the practice session at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday.
“Mahmudullah is doing well and he’s feeling better now. I think he’ll play the next game against India as it’s our most important game now. We’ll get to know about his fitness after watching him how he responds to the practice session ahead of the game,” team manager Khaled Mahmud Sujon told reporters.
He also added that they are looking forward to see how he fares in the fitness test. “There is a fitness test and we can have a clear picture about him [fitness wise] after he completes the formality,” he said.
