Hosts Bangladesh National Football team conceded a 1-2 goals defeat against upper ranked Singapore National Football team in a FIFA International Friendly Football match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.
Defender Nasiruddin Chowdhury put Bangladesh ahead in the early first half while Newaz Hamid and MKA Bin Kamal scored for touring Singapore, one in each half.
Both the sides played this FIFA international friendly as part of their preparation for the FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifiers as well as for the AFC Asia Cup 2019 Qualifiers.
Bangladesh will play another FIFA friendly against Afghanistan on June 2 at the same venue.
In the day’s match, Bangladesh took the lead in the very 4th minute of the match as defender Nasiruddin Chowdhury found the Singapore net by a brilliant header from goalmouth melee, utilising a curved free kick off skipper Mamunul Islam Mamun from the right flank (1-0).
Forward Fazrul Newaz Hameed leveled the margin for Singapore in the 31st minute by a rebound placing shot from handshake distance when his header off a Hafiz bin Abu Sujad curved cross from the left hand flag end came his way again hitting the side post (1-1).
Forward Mohammad Khairul Amri Bin Mohammad Kamal scored the match-winning goal for visiting Singapore in the 73rd minute by a power-packed shot from top of the box making fool the Bangladesh custodian Mazharul Islam (2-1). Kamal got the ball just outside the danger zone when a corner kick from Hafiz bin Abu Sujad came his way through a punch by Bangladesh goalie.
Earlier, Bangladesh missed a couple of chances in the first half. Crazy midfielder Hemanta Vinsent Biswas spoiled an opportunity in the 12th minute as his shot from D box was nicely saved by Singapore goalkeeper Hassan Bin Abdullah Sunny.
In the 13th minute, Bangladesh custodian Mazharul Islam fisted away an attempt of Nawaz Hameed from the right corner of the six yard box.
Bangladesh winger Sohel Rana managed a good opportunity in the 43rd minute but sent the ball wide with opponent custodian Abdullah Sunny at his mercy.
In the 63rd minute, Enamul cut a low cross from the right flank and Hemanta Vincent Biswas took control of it at the middle of the box, but his right footer was cleared by goalie Abdullah Sunny.
In the 66th minute, Singapore forward KA Bin Kamal’s header on a
cross off substitute Sahril bin Ishak, traveled over the crosspiece.
