Int'l Friendly Football: Bangladesh clinch series

Bangladesh clinched the ‘Mijib Borsho’ FIFA International Football Series 1-0 after they held Nepal to a goalless draw in the second match at the country’s premier venue flood-lit Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
A good number of spectators arrived at the big bowl to watch the gala football match.
Earlier, Bangladesh defeated Nepal by two goals to nil in the first match of the Series at the same venue on Friday last.
It was almost a fifty-fifty affair though Bangladesh got two chances in the first half.
Sumon Reza’s powerful shot narrowly missed the crossbar in the 23rd minute of the play.
Sumon Reza’s another attempt went in vain when his weak shot was gripped by Nepal goalie Kiran Kumar Limbu in the 31st minute of the game. Sumon got the ball in the D-box from his teammate Nabib Newaz Ziban, who crossed the ball from the right side.
After the lemon-break, Bishwanath Ghosh’s shot went wide in the 59th minute of the clash.
Nepal missed the easiest opportunity of the game when Nawayug Shrestha’s header went away touching the second bar during the injury time of the second half.
After the match, a colourful fireworks was held at the big bowl which entertained thousands of spectators.
