Bangladesh clinched the AFC U-14 Girls’ Regional Championship (South & Central Region) title beating hosts Nepal 1-0 in the final of the tournament on Sunday at Army Physical Fitness and Sports Centre in Lagankhel. The winning goal came from Maria at 16 minute of the game. All Nepal Football Association hosted the final that was halted due to the April 25 Great Quake. The final was scheduled for a 2:00pm kick off at the Dashrath Stadium on April 25 before it had to be called off due to the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck at 11:56am. A total of seven teams–also including, India, Bhutan, Maldives, Iran and Sri Lanka–had participated in the tournament. In their route to the final, Bangladesh had beaten Iran 2-0 while Nepal had beaten India 1-0.
