Bangladesh Children’s Film Festival begins

Bangladesh Children’s Film Festival 2017, organised by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), began at National Art Gallery of BSA on December 28.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP inaugurated the festival at the chief guest. Noted artist and puppeteer Mustafa Monwar, film organiser Munira Morshed Munni and Assistant Professor at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, University of Dhaka Sabrina Sultana Chowdhury were also present as the special guests on the occasion.
The three-day-long festival is being held simultaneously at all 64 districts in the country, will close on December 31. Liaquat Ali Lucky, the Director General of BSA, presided over the session.
A total of 40 films, including both children’s film and films made by children, are to be screened at the festival. The festival will also give awards for best films under the categories- Children’s film and films made by children, best film maker and a special jury award. A certificate of participation will be awarded to every participating filmmakers on the closing day of the festival.
Aside from film viewing, two workshops on ‘Film Appreciation’ are scheduled to be held on December 29 and 30. Another special seminar will be held at the seminar room of National Theatre on the second day of the festival at 4:00pm. Prof Dr Aminul Islam from the Department of Drama and Dramatics of Jahangirnagar University will present the main article at the seminar.
