BSS, Dhaka :
Agriculture Minister Begum Matia Chowdhury said Bangladesh wanted to advance on path of development by joining hands together with China.
“Bangladesh and China are two friendly countries and we expect continuous support from China, so that we can advance along with them (China) on the basis of equal respect,” she said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Bangladesh Samayabadi Dal (ML) organized the discussion marking the 65th anniversary of Chinese Revolution at a city hotel with its general Secretary Dilip Barua in the chair.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, former president of Bangladesh Communist party Monjurul Ahsan Khan and Charge, d’affaires of China in Dhaka Qu Guangzhou spoke as special guests.
Matia Chowdhury said China supported Bangladesh to achieve self-sufficiency in food production as it had transferred its technology of hybrid variety of paddy to Bangladesh.
Noting that the present government has set a target to make full free education up to graduation level, the agriculture minister said if the Chinese government supports Bangladesh in the country’s internal education system, it will be easy for the present government to achieve the goal.
Menon said both China and India always extended their support to Bangladesh for maintaining peace and stability in the country especially in curbing fundamentalism and terrorism.
Inu said China has proved that there is no alternative but to follow own political ideology and economic strategy for making internal development. “Presently Bangladesh is also following such kind of approach,” he said.
