Bangladesh Karate team became runners-up in the 5th International Karate Championship held at Goa in India from October 10 to October 13.
Bangladesh Karate team bagged seven gold medals, four silver medals and three bronze medals in the karate meet.
The 12-member Bangladesh Karate team participated in the karate competition. Walton and Bangladesh Ansar has sponsored Bangladesh Karate team.
Hosts India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and Malaysia participated in the four-day long karate meet.
On the concluding day, Md Hasan Khan achieved gold medal in the Individual Kata of Under-18 Division, secured gold in Open Individual Kata, earned bronze medal in Under-65 kg category. Iftekhar Hossain Parvez gained gold in Kumi of Under-65 kg category, bagged silver in Individual Kata of Under-18 Division and earned bronze in Open Individual Kata. Hossain Khan Moon bagged gold in Individual Kumi of Under-75 kg category, earned silver in Individual Kata of Under-18 Division. Rezaul Karim Masum gained silver in Individual Kumi of Under-55 kg category. Md Sharif earned bronze in Individual Kumi of Under-65 kg category.
In the Women’s Division, Nasima Akhter Jui gained gold in Individual Kumi of Under-55 kg category.
Earlier, Bangladeshi Women bagged two gold medals on the second day.
