Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe to move to plate final of U-19 WC

Bangladesh Under-19 team moved to the plate final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup eliminating Zimbabwe Under-19 side by 72 runs in the semifinal at the Sheikh Abu Zayed Stadium (Nursery 1) in Abu Dhabi Tuesday.
The Young Tigers will play the plate final against New Zealand on Thursday at Sheikh Abu Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
In Tuesday’s match Bangladesh batted first after winning the toss and scored 265 for 6 in 50 overs with two down Mosaddek Hossain quick-firing the team’s highest unbeaten 83 runs off 66 balls, with six fours and one six.
After the departure of opener Shadman Islam (34) for 64 runs in 16.5 overs, another opener Joyraz Sheikh pairing with one down Litton Das contributed 77 runs in the 2nd wicket stand to carry the team total to 141 in 30.1 overs.
Joyraz Sheikh scored the team’s 2nd highest 58-run off 89 balls, featuring five boundaries while Litton Das contributed 42-ball 47 runs hitting three fours and one six.
Besides, number six Yasir Ali (19) and middle order Zakir Hasan (11) were the other major contributors for Bangladesh, reaching the double figure while another 10 runs of the innings came from extras.
PT Mombo grabbed two wickets for 55 runs .
Chasing a target of 266 runs, Zimbabwe made a cautious start scoring 47 runs in 15.3 overs in the opening stand, losing the wicket of opener TS Kamunhukamwe, who scored 13 runs off 40 balls including two fours.
But the misery of Zimbabwe compounded when they lost four quick wickets in only 18 runs in seven overs with scores at 65 for 5 in 22.3 overs.
In the 6th wicket stand, MB Lake shared a 50-run stand with LM Jongwe enabling Zimbabwe to score 115 for 6 in 36.1 overs.
Number seven LM Jongwe made a half century scoring 50 runs off 74 balls with four fours and one six, skipper MB Lake scored 56-ball 38 runs hitting three fours and one six while lower order DSA Bell remained unbeaten with 36-ball 30 runs featuring two boundaries.
Skipper Mehedy Hasan grabbed three wickets for 43 runs while Mustafizur Rahman and Nihaduzzaman took two wickets each conceding 19 and 23 runs respectively.
