Bangladesh beat Singapore 2-1 in Asian Games hockey

Bangladesh hockey team finally had something to cheer as they recorded a comfortable 2-1 goal victory over Singapore in Pool A match of 17th Asian Games hockey held on Tuesday at Seonhak Hockey Stadium.
Though the result might look like a very close contest but in reality Bangladesh had a total dominance as their forwards goofed number of opportunities. Singapore opted for a defensive attitude as they crowed their defense with extra players which saw Bangladesh forward failed to penetrate in the first quarter.
The second quarter saw Bangladesh made some determined efforts and Singapore finally crumbled as Pushkor Khisa and Mamunur Rahman Chayon’s combined efforts saw Singapore defense split and Khisa to the delight of Bangladesh supporter broke the deadlock with a fine field goal (1-0). The goal was scored in the 22nd minutes of the proceeding.
Bangladesh continued to press hard and five minutes later Khorshedur Rahman doubled the margin from the penalty corner in the 27th minutes.
Khorshed leaned forward and placed the ball at the left corner of the goal post (2-0). As Bangladesh continue to miss in front of the goal while Singapore made fight back as they managed to win a penalty stroke and Tan Yi Ru made no mistake to reduce the margin in 40th minutes.
Earlier, Bangladesh made a poor start as they were dumped 0-8 in their first match against Japan and made a little bit recovery to down to Malaysia by a 1-5 goal margin. Bangladesh will play their last group match against South Korea on September 27.
