Bangladesh Archers finally shrugged off their indifference form to storm into seven finals in the 1st Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) International Archery Championship on Sunday at Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.
In the men’s team recurve bow event, Rumman Sana, M Sanwar Hossain, M Tamimul Islam will fight for the gold with Bhutan Archery team. In the same event, bronze medal was captured by Saudi Arabia who blew away Sudan 6-0 in the third place deciding match.
In the women’s team event Bangladesh women (Beauty Rai, Shamoli Rai, Radia Akhter Shapla) qualified for the final and will compete against favourites Nepal in the final scheduled for tomorrow.
M Rumman Sana and Beauty Rai duo moved into the final of the mixed doubles and will fight for the gold against Bhutan. In the same event for the bronze medal it was a nail biting match between Iraq and Syria with Iraq edging by 5-4 to win the bronze medal.
In the Compound team gold event Bangladesh team comprising of Abul Kashem Mamun, Milon Molla, Nazmul Huda barged into final and will be facing Malaysia in the final. In the same event, bronze medal was bagged by Iraq who sweated hard to beat Bhutan 217-215 points.
In the mixed dubles of compound team event Bangladesh duo Abul Kashem Mamun and Sushmita Bhowmik will compete against Iraq for the gold medal match today.
Altogether taking Recurve and Compound Division in singles and team event, Bangladesh will be fighting for seven gold medals today on the concluding day of the competition.
