A 3-day long Bangladesh Apparel & Safety Expo,Chittagong-2015 will begin in the port city at Hotel Radison Blue on Thursday .
The inaugural ceremony will be inaugurated at Mezban Hall of the 5-star hotel at 10am.
Minister for Commerce Tofael Ahmed is expected to inaugurate the Expo as chief guest and the Minister for Housing and Public Works Engr. Mosharraf Hossain MP and the Member of European Parliament and Chairman of Trade Monitoring Group of South Asia Sajjad Karim will grace the occasion as special guests. Besides, Mr. Pierre Mayaudon Ambassador of EU to Bangladesh, US Ambassador in Bangladesh Marcia Bernicat and the High commissioner of Canada in Bangladesh Mr. Benoit-Pierre Laramee and the city Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin are expected to attend the inaugural session as guests of honour.
 This was disclosed at a press conference held at BGMEA Chittagong zonal office conference hall yesterday afternoon.
The press meet was told that 73 stalls from home and abroad will be set up at Mezban hall of Radison Blue including stalls of readymade garments- 17, febrics-1, Garments accessories- 2, Garments fabrics (local-1), garments machineries 18, fire equipment 25, Service providers- 7 and BGMEA -2 . Besides, during Expo period, 4 separate seminars will be arranged on Aug 6 & 7 . These seminars titled 1)” Branding Bangladesh 2) Training & Development skills for strong, sustainable & balanced growth 3) financing Apparel growth and 4) Capacity Building of port, customs, Power & Infrastructure to reach $ 50 Billion in 2021″.

The leaders of BGMEA present replied to several questions of the journalists regarding declining situation of the sector in Chittagong . Leaders of BGMEA said earlier Chittagong contributed 40% shares in forex earning which now declined to 15% lack of infrastractural facilities.  
Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association(BGMEA) , Chittagong chapter is going to organize Bangladesh Apparel & Safety Expo(Ctg Expo-2015) from August 6 next with an aim to explore every avenues of garment sector towards achieving the vision of US $ 50 billion of RMG export by 2021 , the press meet told.
Former Director of BGMEA and chief coordinator of Ctg Expo-15 ANM Saifuddin depicted the aims and objective s of the exclusive type of Apparel & Safety Expo in the meet.
 The senior leaders of BGMEA Chittagong including coordinator o the expo Md. Saifuddin, Directors M A Wahab, Sabbir Mustafa, Anjan Sakhar, Elias Ehsan, Mohiuddin , Sajib , Nazrul Islam were present in the press meet.
The press meet demanded exclusive garments zone at Anowara, sitakunda and Patiya and govt patronization in allocating lands for these zone like economic zones of Mirsarai and Anowara.
 First Vice President Nasiruddin Chowdhury said mega expo will showcase locally developed apprarel products and will provide an ideal opportunity to global apparel retailers to meet the experienced textile manufacturers of Bangladesh.
He said the event aims to facilitate dialogue among the stakeholders in 4 informative seminars to devise ways for Bangladesh to pursue its US$ 50 billion vision and become a premium Bangladesh brand worldwide by 2021.
Nasiruddin Chowdhury finally said riding on 35 years of experience, Bangladesh is regarded as one of the preferred apparel sourcing destinations in the world.
 He also hoped that the exposition will play a important role in exploring our potentials and ensuring a safe and sustainable apparel sector in Bangladesh.
He also mentioned that Chittagong is the birth place of RMG and the gateway of the country.
