Bangladesh has administered over 100 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, nearly in 10 months after kicking off a nationwide campaign.
The vaccinations first started on a trial basis on January 27 and later became a countrywide program from February 7.
Altogether 100,002,123 doses were administered as of Wednesday, according to official figures.
Of them, 62,733,739 are first doses – meaning that the inoculation drive has reached at least 62 million people in the country. As many as 37,268,384 of
them have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
It took Bangladesh 301 days to hit the landmark with the authorities vaccinating an average of more than 332,000 each day.
Bangladesh currently administers AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sinopharm and Moderna vaccines to its citizens.
Apart from the usual program, the country has conducted at least four special inoculation drives to date.
They have also urged everyone to take vaccines, assuring that there is a steady supply.
Bangladesh started vaccinating school and college students aged 12-17 on November 1.
With the emergence of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus, the government has decided to administer booster shots to those aged 60 and above as well as those with comorbidities, as they belong to high-risk groups.
Plans are also in the works to arrange more special drives to bolster the overall program and reach people living in remote places.
