Visiting Bangladesh A Team sealed the three-match unofficial ODI series with one-match to spare after beating hosts Zimbabwe A team by 36 runs in the 2nd one-day match at the Harare Sports Club ground on Wednesday.
After a frustrating warm-up tour in South Africa, Bangladesh A team made a flying start in Zimbabwe tour outplaying hosts Zimbabwe A by a huge margin of 138 runs in the first one-day match at the same venue on Monday.
In the remaining one-day match, Bangladesh A team will play Zimbabwe A Team on Friday (Nov 6) before playing two four-day matches against their Zimbabwean counterparts.
Sent in to bat first in the 2nd one-dayer, the 2nd string Bangladesh team made challenging total of 282 runs for 6 in stipulated 50 overs with opener Shadman Islam pairing with one down Mohammad Mithun contributing 112 runs in 24.3 overs in the 2nd wicket stand.
Mohammad Mithun, who played an anchor role for Bangladesh’s impressive 138-run win over Zimbabwe A team in the first match making a century with exact 100 runs, today also hammered a half century scoring the team highest 66 runs off 91 balls featuring five fours and two sixes.
Lower order Mosaddek Hossain quick-fired an unbeaten 50 runs off just 39 balls hitting six boundaries, opener Shadman Islam added another useful 88-ball 47 runs with four fours.
Besides, skipper Shuvagoto Hom (30), lower order Muktar Ali (not out 29), Mahmudul Hasan (21) and Rony Talukder (16) were the notable scorers for Bangladesh A team.
DT Tiripano grabbed three wickets for 57 runs while GAT Mamhiyo and BV Vitori took one wicket each conceding 31 and 53 runs respectively.
Chasing a target of 283 runs, Zimbabwe A team made a good start scoring 50 runs in 9.2 overs in the opening stand by BB Chari and KT Kasuza, but finally closed their innings at 246 for 9 in allocated 50 overs.
Opener BB Chari contributed the match highest 69 runs off 94 deliveries featuring seven fours and two sixes, middle order CT Mutombodzi scored 59-ball 57 runs hitting seven fours, number six Gat Mamhiyo scored 54-ball 46 runs with three fours, one down PJ Moor made 39-ball 29 runs with one four and three sixes. KT Kasuza scored 27-ball 18 runs with two fours.
Taijul Islam and Muktar Ali took two wickets each conceding 27 and 55 runs respectively. Shuvagoto Home, Abu Jayed, Mohammad Shahid and Mahmudul Hasan took one wicket each conceding 21, 34. 46 and 49 runs respectively.
