Bangladesh A team took 1-0 lead beating Zimbabwe A team by six wickets in the first four-day match of their two-match unofficial Test series at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday.
On the fourth and last day (Wednesday), Bangladesh (211 runs in 1st innings) resumed the 2nd innings with overnight 43 for 1 in 15 overs and scored 105 runs for 4 wickets in 38.2 overs to seal the win.
Night watch Liton Kumar scored team highest 43 runs while Forhad Hossain (not out 16), skipper Naeem Islam (not out 15), Marshal Ayub (13) and Rakibul Hasan (10) were the other double digit scorers for Bangladesh.
Wellington Masakadza took two wickets for 46 runs.
Saqlain Sajib of Bangladesh who took 15 wickets in the match (9 for 82 runs in 1st innings and 6 wickets for 50 2nd innings) was adjudged man of the match.
Both teams will return to Dhaka on Thursday to play the 2nd four-day match on September 21-24 at the Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Apart from the two four-day matches, visiting Zimbabwe A will play three one-day matches against host Bangladesh on September 27, 29 and October 1, all at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj before their departure for home on October 2.
