Historic 7th March was celebrated in the port city as elsewhere in the district with patriotic and festivity mood . Ruling Awami league and other political , social-cultural organizations observed the day paying homage to the father of the Nation. In this connection a discussion meeting titled ‘Bangabandhu’s speech on March 7 and the armed liberation war of Bengalis’ organized by the District and Metropolitan Sector Commanders Forum was held under the chairmanship of district president Muktijoddha Nurul Alam Montu.
The organization’s city president said freedom fighter Sarfaraz Khan Chowdhury was the chief guest while Bedarul Alam Chowdhury, Central Co-Organizing Secretary was the chief discussant.
Conducted by the General Secretary of the organization Noor Alam Siddiqui. Zahid Hossain Sharif, freedom fighter Badsha Mia, District Council member Akhtar Mahmud Parvez, Md. Selim Chowdhury, Abdul Malek Khan, Shahed Murad Shaku, Advocate Saifunnahar Khushi, Haji Selim Rahman, Md. Jasim Uddin, Engineer Palash Barua, Monwar Jahan Moni, Advocate Kamrul Azam Tipu, Nurul Huda Chowdhury, Nabi Hossain Salauddin, Mostafiz Biplob, Nasir Ali Khan, Advocate Miladul Amin, Abdur Rahim, Engineer Yaqub Munna, Md. Gias Uddin, Sadhan Chandra Das, Sohail Iqbal, Sheela Chowdhury, Md. Hossain Saddam, Isme Azim Asif, MH Manik, Manullah Manik, Anchal Chakraborty, Khaleduzzaman, Sajjad Hossain and others took part in the discussion.
Speakers said that Bangabandhu’s speech on March 7 is a source of inspiration for freedom-loving people and an invaluable document of world heritage. Originally, after this speech, the Bengalis jumped into the armed liberation war.
