Information Minister Dr.Hasan Mahmud said that insult to Father of the Nation will not be tolerated in any case. He said it addressomg the ‘Distribution of Books on Life and Works of Bangabandhu organized at Bangabandhu Hall of Chattogram Press Club yesterdsay morning with Press Council Chairman Justice Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed in the chair.
 The Information Minister said that controversy is being created in various ways at the end of Mujib’s year. Instability is being created in the society by drawing various issues with nefarious motives.
Those who want to take society backwards and those who are patronizing them need to be watched.  
Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that Bangabandhu was a leader whose call made Bangalis sacrificed their lives. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was able to inspire the nation to sacrifice. There are very few leaders who have been able to inspire people in this way. Just as journalists had a role in movement for independence, under the leadership of Bangabandhu
The writings of journalists have played an important role in shaping people’s minds for independence. It is time to speak out against those who want to take society back to the Middle Ages, those who want to establish a medieval society, and those who patronize them, he added. .
Dr. Hasan Mahmud said Bangabandhu has formed Bangladesh Press Council. The Press Council is in the process of amending the law to make it more powerful and welfare oriented.
The amended law may be presented to the next Parliament session . According to the amended law, the aggrieved person as well as the aggrieved media worker can lodge a complaint with the Press Council. If the amended law is passed, the Press Council will be able to do more welfare work. The information minister said that books provide food for knowledge.
There is no alternatives for reading books to get to know the world as well as develop talent. Although the elderly are accustomed to reading books, the current generation is less accustomed in reading books.. Young generation need to be inspired to read books to prepare themselves for future.
Chairman of the Press Council Justice Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the function. Daily Azadi Editor MA Malek, Acting President of the Press Club Salauddin Mohammad Reza, General Secretary Chowdhury Farid, Member of the Press Council Abdul Majid, Co-President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Riaz Haider Chowdhury and others also spoke. It was informed on the occasion that Bangabandhu Corner will be established at Press Club on the initiative of Press Council.
The Press Council provided 65 books on Bangabandhu Liberation War and Journalism to Chattogram Press Club. The Information Minister handed over the books to the Acting President and General Secretary of Chittagong Press Club.
