Business Desk :
Bangladesh will sail ahead, combining opportunities and capabilities, by empowering youths.
While opportunities are being created through loans and financial support, capabilities are being built through training.
Karmasangsthan Bank’s “Bangabandhu Jubo Rin” (Bangabandhu Youth Loan), a programme for trained unemployed youth to observe the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, is a step in that direction.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Saturday said this online while speaking as the chief guest at the cheque handover programme of “Bangabandhu Jubo Rin,” reads a press release. The speaker handed over the cheques to a hundred trained youths at the programme organised by Karmasangsthan Bank’s Pirganj branch in Rangpur.
From her personal fund, she also distributed 30 wheelchairs and two tricycles among differently-abled people, and cheques amounting to Tk5 lakh among the headmasters of 10 educational institutions for buying sports equipment.
On behalf of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the speaker also handed over cheques amounting to Tk4.5 lakh among 30 helpless, distressed, and unemployed people of Pirganj.
She said the government has been working tirelessly to create skilled human resources – up to the grassroots level in every area – including bringing women to the forefront through training, IT-based education, collateral free loans and incentives.
Since its establishment in 1997, Karmasangsthan Bank has been working to create skilled human resources and entrepreneurs through various activities, including training, Dr Shirin said.
Financial Institution Division Senior Secretary Md Asadul Islam, Karmasangsthan Bank Chairman Kaniz Fatema, and its managing director Md Tajul Islam spoke as special guests at the programme presided over by Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Asib Ahsan.
