The Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament will be held from the third week of January at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Channel 9, a satellite television channel will be the title sponsor of the gala football meet. Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will sign an agreement with the television channel soon.
Bahrain, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Laos have already verbally confirmed that they will participate in the football tournament. A total of eight teams including hosts Bangladesh will take part in the football competition.
The budget of the tournament has been estimated at Tk ten crore.
Once Bangladesh hosted Aga Khan Gold Cup. Besides, President Cup also took place in the country.
The Bangabandhu Gold Cup was held in 1999 last. After that no international football tournament held in the country.
BFF President Kazi Salahuddin is determined to host an international football tournament.
Thus the Bangabandhu Gold Cup will be taken place from the last week of January in 2015.
