The government on Monday dismissed the project director of Bangabandhu-1 satellite for his inefficiency, said Tarana Halim, State Minister for Post and Telecommunications.
The decision of removing Golam Razzaque was taken following recommendations from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission’s telecom division, she said.
The government has appointed BTRC Director Md Mesbahuzzaman as the new project director.
The satellite, the launch of which is due in December this year, aims to serve the SAARC countries and others. The project cost is estimated at Tk 2,967.96 crore, of which the government is to bear Tk 1,314.56 crore and the rest will come from foreign loans and share sales.
