Kadamtuli’s bamboo bridge is the only means of communication for thousands of people of several nearby villages including Alli, Talli, Chamurtha, Beldia and Sadhua in Pagla Thanadin Niguari Union of Gafargaon Upazila of Mymensingh.
According to the locals, Kadamtali canal has divided Alli and Sadua villages of Niguari union of Pagla police station. Sadhua village on the north side of this canal and Alli village on the south side. Sadhua village has Sadhua Shamsul Haque Fazil Madrasa, Sadhua Abu Saidia Dakhil Madrasa, Sadhua Maleka Jubaida Dakhil Madrasa and Sadhua Primary School.
On the other hand, there are Sadhua Sheikh Riaz Uddin High School, Alli Hafizia Keratiya Madrasa, Alli Government Primary School and Alli Gabtali Furkania Madrasa and several other hats and bazaars in Alli village.
In the rainy season, when the bamboo bridge sinks, the clothes have to be crossed. If the locals want to go somewhere, they have to leave the house with extra clothes. Innumerable people cross the bridge every day with this misery. Women and children are in extreme distress. Also the suffering of the students throughout the year.
For so long, Sakonti had almost collapsed. At that time, keeping in mind the coming monsoon, teacher Arif Bashar Ratan Sir repaired the bamboo bridge of Alli Sadhua village and made it suitable for movement.
According to the villagers, people on both sides of the river are being deprived of fair prices for the vegetables and raw materials produced in the area.
Md. Abdul Qasim, a member of the local union council, said the bridge had to be repaired twice a year with the financial help of the locals. Locals demand construction of a paved bridge here.
Kamrul Hasan of Alli village said, “A friend who came to visit my house last year fell and was injured while crossing the Sanko.
According to the elders of the area, the people of the two villages have been using this bridge since the time of their ancestors. The locals regret that a bridge has not been built in such a long time.
Sohail Mazhar, a lecturer at Burmi College, a resident of Niguari Union, said, “At the initiative of our Ratan Sir, the locals repaired the bridge before the monsoon. The villagers have been demanding the construction of a bridge here for a long time.
