Bail plea of Tarique’s APS Apu rejected

A Dhaka court yesterday (Monday) rejected the bail petition of Mia Nur Uddin alias Apu, BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman’s APS.
Judge Basudeb Roy of Dhaka’s Special Court-3 passed the order rejecting the bail petition.
Earlier, Apu was brought to the court in a wheel chair on Monday at about 10 am while the hearing on the bail petition took place at 12 o’clock.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the case on charge of bribe
transaction to save a son of Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan from the accusation of murder.
Advocates Masud Ahmed Talukder and Tafiqul Islam moved the bail petition of Apu, while ACC’s Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajal appeared to the court on behalf of the prosecution.
Apu returned to the country and surrendered to the Speedy Tribunal-2 very secretary on June 18 in a an extortion case filed with the capital’s Gulshan Police Station. However, Judge Ataul Haque of the court sent him to the jail rejecting his bail plea.
The following day Apu’s council sought the court to show him arrested in the case filed for transaction of bribe to Save Sabbir, a son of Bashundhara Group Chairman Akbar Sobhan from murder charge. Besides, a petition was also filed on the day for his release in the case.
The court allowed the petition to show Sabbir arrested in the case and fixed June 26 for hearing on the bail petition. On June 26, the ACC lawyer filed petition for time as he was not ready on the day and the court fixed July 14 to hear on the petition.
