A female school teacher lodged a case with Bagerhat Sadar Model Thana on August 30 against a young man accusing him of committing rape giving promise of marriage. The woman alleged that the man physically tortured her and tried to abort the embryo formed in her womb forcibly.
The man is the son of a businessman father and his mother is an influential woman leader of Bagerhat district town. The matter was concealed tactfully for a few days by the accused father and mother. But it was, somehow, leaked out and created a great sensation in the district town. At last it was disclosed to the newsmen by the police.
The accused persons of the case are Redwan Ahmed Ratul (29), father Faruq Ahmed (59) and mother Adv. Parvin Ahmed (50), General Secretary of Bagerhat district unit of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, a member of Bagerhat district Bar Association and a former Woman Vice-chairman of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila Parishad. She has been working as a front line leader for establishing the right of woman in all sectors of the country for long.
It is stated in the case that a love affair was developed between accused Redwan Ahmed Ratul and the victim (woman) school teacher in the month of February 15 this year and at one stage it was turned into an illicit relation between the two. Later on August 23 Ratul took her into his Rail Road residence where he committed rape with her forcibly. On August 29 the victim school teacher went the house of Ratul and claimed that she had conceived for 2 months. At that time Ratul once again committed rape with her forcibly and tortured her physically. But it was noticed by Adv. Parvin Ahmed, mother of rapist Ratul. Then the victim school teacher informed Adv. Parvin Ahmed of her pregnancy.
Parvin Ahmed took the victim school teacher to a private clinic at Dashpara Mor (crossing) of the district town in order to abort embryo formed in her womb forcibly. But the victim teacher, somehow, managed to escaped, took shelter in a road sided shop and cried out in a piteous tone for help.
