Founding anniv of NEWS 24 celebrated
The 4th founding anniversary of TV channel NEWS 24 was celebrated here in a befitting manner on Saturday morning with the initiative of its Bagerhat district correspondent. On the occasion, a lively discussion meeting was held in the auditorium of Bagerhat Press Club with its President Ahad Uddin Haidar in the chair. In the address of welcome its Bagerhat correspondent Shaikh Ahsanul Karim explained the policy of the TV channel . Alhaj Dr Mozammel Hossain, MP of Bagerhat President, Bagerhat District unit of Bangladesh Awami League and a former minister while was addressing the meeting as the chief guest he explained the need and importance of both print and electronic medias in a newly born democratic country like Bangladesh. The chief guest requested the journalists to publish accurate, objective and constructive news items in their respective news medias for the betterment of the country and as well as for her people. He wished the longevity and prosperity of the TV channel. It was also addressed among others by Al-haj Abdul Baki Talukdar, General Secretary of Bagerhat Press Club and Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Bagerhat correspondent of the daily New Nation and former president of the club. A ceremonial cake was cut by the chief guest. Shaikh Azmal Hossain, Assistant Secretary of the Press Club conducted the function.
18 passengers injured
 in road accident
At least 18 passengers including children were injured, 3 seriously when a passenger bus bound for Khulna turned turtle on Khulna-Pirojpur via Bagerhat Highway at Gobordia in Bagerhat district town on Friday morning. v Mahatab Uddin, Officer-In-charge of Bagerhat Model PS told, the passenger bus belonging to Nishi Enterprises was going from Pirojpur to Khulna and when it just crossed Daratana Bridge the driver lost his control over its steering wheel and consequently, it skidded off the road, turned turtle and plunged into a road side ditch. Being informed of the matter a fire service unit of Bagerhat rushed to the spot, recovered the passengers with the help of the locals and admitted them to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital and private clinics.
College student killed
 in road mishap
A teen aged motor cyclist was killed on the spot and 2 others were injured when their motor cycle collided head on with a mechanized 3 wheeler vehicle known as Nasimon laden with electricity poles on Sighnboard-Bogi regional Highway at Pallimangol area under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district on Thursday night. The deceased was identified as Munna (18), a XII class student of K R Degree College and son of one Shamsul Haq of village Sanyasi under the same Upazila while the injured co-riders are Raihan Raj (18) and Isa Hawladar (16) of the same area. K M Azizul Islam, OC , Morrelgaj PS told, at the night (at about 8 pm) Munna and his two friends were coming to Morrelganj Upazila headquarters by a motor cycle and when they reached the place of occurrence the motor cycle collided head on with the Nasimon. The injured persons were recovered from there and were admitted to the local Upazila Health Complex for their treatment.
