Unidentified body of teen girl

Dead body of an unidentified teen aged girl (19) contained in a gunny bag was recovered by the police from a canal of village Badokhali within Bisnupur Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday night, according to a delayed report received here. Local people could not identify the dead body. So, it is guessed by the police that she hailed from other area. She was in black complexion and clothed a black Burkha and a deep brown Kamiz (shirt).
Md. Nurul Islam, SI (Investigation) of Bagerhat Sadar Model PS disclosed, on Wednesday some locals found a loaded gunny bag floating on the water of a canal named Katakhal near the house of one Sohrab Hossain of village Badokhali and informed the police of the matter. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the gunny bag. After opening it the dead body was found in it. Police guessed she was, perhaps, gang rape by some miscreants who later killed her and threw the dead body in the canal after putting the same (dead body) into a gunny bag. The dead body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for its autopsy.
Battery-run van hijacked
A battery run (rickshaw) van was hijacked by someone from the village Sonakhali within Mulghar Union Parishad under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday night after injuring its owner cum puller poor Abdullah of village Naihati under Rupsa Upazila in Khulna district. At the night Abdullah was on the road along with his van at Fakirhat. At about 9 pm a young man appeared there and hired his van at Tk.250.00 to carry some gunny bags loaded with paddy from the village Sonakhali within Mulghar Union Parishad. Accordingly, the van reached a house of Sonakhali village. Then the young man called her mother repeatedly. But nobody replied to it nor opened the door of the house.
Then the young man took him to a dark and lonely room of the house to fetch the gunny bags loaded with paddy.
As soon as the van puller reached there the young man hit him a severe blow on his head with a heavy lethal weapon from his behind. As a result, the van puller was fatally injured, lost his sense and fell on the floor. Taking the opportunity the young man fled away with the van. Later some locals recovered the van puller from there and admitted him to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex. But considering the gravity of the injury he was shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Farmer, 2 cattle heads killed by lightning
Farmer Bipul Haldar (50), son of one Bimal Haldar of village Hoglapati under Sharankhola in Bagerhat district was killed by lightning on Wednesday, according to a report received here. Family sources said that on the day at noon suddenly a stormy weather accompanied with rain swept over the area. At that time the farmer was in his cow shed. All on a sudden a lightning flashed over the area. As a result, the farmer sustained severe burn injuries on his person. He was rushed to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Another report states that on the same day and almost at the same time 2 cattle heads of a farmer named Zakir Hossain of Majher Char area under the same Upazila were killed when a lightning flashed on them.
Child drowns in Fakirhat
Samia Khatun (04), daughter of one Md Salah Uddin of Gaborkhali Bazar area within Mansha-Bahirdia Union under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district met her tragic end when she was drowned in a pond in the village Town Noapara within Piljanga Union under the same Upazila on Thursday when she went to pay visit to the house of her paternal grand father along with her mother.
