Rezwanul Islam Ridu (38), a former captain of Bagerhat district cricket team was killed on the spot on Bagerhat-Rupsa old Zila Parishad road at Kuliyadair within Karapra Union under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district on Saturday at 11 am when his motor cycle was dashed violently from its behind by a rice loaded loaded speeding truck.
It is learnt from the police and the eye-witnesses that in the morning ill-fated Rezwanul was returning to Bagerhat district tow from Jatrapur Bazar under the same Upazila by a motor cycle and when he reached the place of occurrence the killer truck bound for Bagerhat dashed the motorcycle violently from its behind. As a result, the motor cyclist was killed and the killer truck plunged into a road side ditch.
Its driver and helper recovered the dead body and sent it to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital. Deceased Redwanul Islam was the son of one Abdur Razzak of village Badekarapara, an outskirt village of Bagerhat district town. K M Azizul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Bagerhat Sadar Model PS told, the dead body was recovered and the killer truck was seized by the police and preparation is going on to take legal action in connection with the tragic incident.
