A corporal of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) was killed in a road accident at city’s Patenga area on Monday. The deceased was identified as Mohammad Tajul Islam, 35, hailed from Moulvibazar district.
Police said BAF corporal Tajul died on the spot after a speedy passenger bus ran over his bicycle at General Electric Manufacturing Company factory gate while he was returning to his residence from Steel Mill Bazar around 1.30pm. Police detained the bus but its driver managed to escape after the accident, said Abul Kashem, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Patenga police station.
The body was kept at Navy Hospital, the OC added.
