June 11 was the 12th death anniversary of noted freedom-fighter,
filmmaker and film activist Badal Rahman. Like every year, Moviyana Film Society organised a commemorative programme to observe the day, which was held on that day at the Seminar Room of National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital’s Segunbagicha area.
This year, the publication ceremony of the interview book Mukhomukhi Badal Rahman by Belayat Hossain Mamun was also held in memory of Badal Rahman. Besides, a memorial session for the filmmaker, the programme was attended by noted filmmaker Syed Salahuddin Zaki, film teacher Haider Rizvi, filmmaker Masihuddin Shaker, filmmaker Morshedul Islam, film Researcher and writer Anupam Hayat, poet Tushar Das, film critic Mahmudul Hossain, filmmaker Ratan Pal, publisher Rahman Jasim, Badal Rahman’s daughter Ahna Rahman and Atasi Rahman, filmmaker and writer Belayat Hossain Mamun. Architect Lailun Nahar Swamy, President of the Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh, presided over the event. Born on June 4 in 1949, veteran filmmaker and film society activist Badal Rahman passed away on June 11 in 2010. A couple of notable movies made by the late Badal Rahman, those themed on children, including Chhana O Muktijuddha and Kathal Burir Bagan earned noteworthy credit from all concerns.
