A three-month baby was rescued from Chunkutia area under Dakkhin Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital on Sunday after 16 days of abduction from the city’s Kadamtali area.
The abducted baby was identified as Shakitul, who was sold to a man at Tk 6,000.
Police arrested two persons, including a woman in this connection.
The arrested persons have been identified as Popi, 35, and Rubel Mia, 38, police said.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman said that a team of law enforcing agencies in a drive rescued the baby from
a house at Chunkutia on Sunday morning. At that time, police also arrested them from the spot.
The baby was abducted from Rail Line New Market area under Kadamtali Police Station on November 23. The baby’s mother registered a general diary (GD) with the police station on the day, the police official said.
Popi confessed to police in a primary interrogation that she sold the baby to Rubel.
