Unfortunate parents have sold their one-day old baby girl at Tk 4,200 for paying the caesarean cost of a private clinic in Paikgacha municipal area in Khulna district.
A childless mother Kabita Rani Sardar bought the baby girl with the arbitration of Farin Hospital in the upazila on December 13, local sources said.
Kabita told the media that the newborn was in very negligence condition as her parents are passing hard time because of ultra poverty.
“I have taken the baby secretly based on the request of her parents,” she added.
According to local sources, the wife of one Dilip Sardar gave birth to a baby girl in Farin Hospital on December 12. But the couple had no ability to bring the total cost of caesarian operation and post operation. Even, the baby was passing hard time due to carelessness.
At one stage, the couple decided to sell the newborn and informed the matter to the clinic authorities and their some relatives. After observing the interest of the couple, Kabita Rani paid Tk 4,200 and took the baby from the clinic, they said.
The parents were indifference to the newborn girl as they expected baby boy. They have three daughters earlier, according to them.
The newborn’s father Dilip Sarder said that they sold the baby to Kabita Rani to considering the better future as the family condition of Kabita Rani good enough and they had no child.
Kabita Rani’s husband Lakkhan Chadra said that they became happy after getting the baby.
