A 15 months old baby girl succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Thursday, three days after she and her mother were hit by a bus at Kushtia town.
Deceased Afifa, daughter of Harunur Rashid, died around 4:45 am yesterday.
Afifa fell from her mother’s lap when a bus of
“Gandharaj Paribahan” pushed her mother Rina Akter from behind when she was crossing the road in the Chourhash intersection in the district town on Tuesday, leaving them injured.
Later, they were taken to Kushtia General Hospital from where Afifa was referred to DMCH for better treatment, her father said.
The video footage of the incident went viral on the social networking site Facebook, sparking an uproar among the locals.
Members of Kushtia Press Club, Sangbadik Union and Television Journalists’ Association formed a human chain in front of Kushtia Press Club following the death and demanded compensation for the family, our local correspondent reports.
The incident took place barely a month into a countrywide student protest demanding safer roads for everyone.
