‘Babunagari spreading falsehood over Shafi’s death’

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh chief Junaid Babunagari are spreading false information about death of its former chief Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi, alleged Mohammad Moeenuddin, brother-in-law of Shafi on Saturday.
Though Moeenuddin claimed several times that ‘he is not anyone of the Hefazat-e-Islam’, but he held the press conference under the banner of the organisation in Chattogram Press Club.
He said elderly Alem Babunagari and his followers made falsehood at the press conference held at Hathazari Madrasa on December 23.
Babunagari said at the press conference, “Allama Shafi’s death was natural.
Three months after his death, a vested quarter lodged a fabricated case. The case is a political conspiracy and it was lodged only to destabilise the country.”
Moeenuddin claimed, Jamaat-Shibit joined Ahmed Shafi’s janaza with the help of Junaid Babunagari. Later Shafi’s son Yusuf Madani has been forced to take part in the janaza.
On December 17, late Shafi’s brother-in-law filed a murder case with a court in Chattogram where 36 Hefazat men have been made accused.
Shafi, the Islamic scholar died at a hospital in the capital on September 18 at the age of 104.
