Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun Thursday said the activities and manpower of the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) will be expanded to create a conducive environment for producing world-class products.
“BAB has already played an effective role to upgrade the quality of domestic industry. BAB’s institutional capacity will be strengthened as it can play more active role to increase the country’s export basket,” he said.
The minister said this while unveiling the 17th edition of BAB news letter at the Industries Ministry here, said a press release.
BAB’s Chairman and Industries Secretary Md Abdul Halim presided over the function while BAB Director General Monowarul Islam delivered the welcome speech.
Deputy director Monirul Haque Pasha highlighted the activities of the organization.
Speaking as the chief guest, Humayun said competition in the international trade is increasing day by day.
“For surviving in the competitive market, the government has taken different initiatives to build international standard infrastructure in Bangladesh. BAB has also been established for strengthening accreditation programs at national level,” he added.
The industries minister said the present government is an industrial friendly government.
“Under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government is working to achieve economic self-sufficiency through sustainable and qualitative industrialisation,” he added.
