BAB to launch Halal Accreditation Scheme

Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) is going to introduce ‘Halal Accreditation Scheme’ through the existing halal certificate provider laboratories for increasing export of Bangladeshi halal products.
The information came on Thursday from a closing function on “24th BAB Assessor Course” at the Industries Ministry conference room in the city, said a press release.
Secretary-in-Charge of the Industries Ministry M Abdul Halim attended the function as the chief guest while BAB Director General M Monowarul Islam was in the chair.
Abdul Halim said Bangladesh will have to increase the contribution of industrial sector in GDP growth for achieving the goal of becoming a developed country by 2041.
“It is possible to achieve the desired goals of industrialization by improving the quality of the products,” he added.
He expressed his hope that BAB will play a vital role to achieve the goals.
Thirty assessors from the testing and calibration laboratories, medical laboratories, certification agencies and inspection agencies of the 20 local and multinational companies took part in the five-day assessor training course.
