UNB, Dhaka :Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Friday urged the government to quit paving the path for formation of national one to rid the country of the ‘current crisis’.”The government should understand it’s committed many misdeeds for so many days. Come down to earth and join people. You mast engage in talks and form a national government to run the country until a fair election is held. It’s the only way to overcome the crisis,” he said.B Chowdhury, also a former President, came up with the remarks while speaking at a programme arranged to pay tributes by citizens to late Prime Minister Kazi Zafar Ahmed at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.He emphasised forming a strong national unity to put up a strong resistance against misdeeds and misrule. “Unity is the most powerful strength of a nation. No power can resist if people get united with a strong vow to fight against unjust. The government should realise it.”Mentioning that the Prime Minister had committed that she would hold another election through dialogue after January-5 election as it was only the election to maintain the constitutional obligation, the BDB chief said Hasina did not live up to her words. “The country has long been running without democracy. It can’t be good for the country.”Speaking at the programme, BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed said militancy emerges in any country if there is no democracy. “Now there’s no democracy in Bangladesh.”He urged the government to stop the ‘blame game’ and take steps for forging a national unity to contain terror acts in the country.Moudud also called upon the government to restore democracy and ensure a democratic atmosphere so that the opposition can carry out its political activities.BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Dhaka University ex-VC Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, noted writher Dr Mizanur Rahman Shelley, Jatiya Party (Jafar) acting president TIM Fazle Rabbi and journalist Mahfuz Ullah, among others, spoke at the programme.
