UNB, Dhaka :President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Friday greeted Jhalakati student Limon Hossain as he was exempted from the charges in the two cases filed by elite force RAB.In a statement, he also termed ‘right’ the decision of dropping the cases against Limon filed by RAB. “The move should have been taken earlier. RAB must play a responsible role in the future to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.” B Chowdhury, also a former president, urged the government to take strong measures so that such incident does not take place again in the days to come.Limon, who was shot and maimed by Rab three years and seven months back, came out clean as a Jhalakati court on Thursday exempted him from the charges in a case filed for obstructing law enforcers from discharging their duties.Earlier on July 29, 2013, Jhalakati special tribunal-2 judge Kiran Shanker Halder cleared Limon of charges in another case filed under the Arms Act.The Home Ministry on July 9 last year decided to withdraw the two cases filed against him.B Chowdhury voiced concern that illegal arrest of innocent people and inhuman physical torture on them have become daily affairs now at all parts of the country, from remote areas to the capital, affecting the normal public life.He called upon all democratic political parties and civil society members to wake up to stop the undemocratic practice.
