B Chy for tougher movement against govt

President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh former President Prof Dr AQM Badrudduza Chowdhury urged the political parties to launch a tougher movement against the government along with the people to restore democracy, as it is moving towards one-party rule. Addressing a discussion at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) on Thursday, he also said that no one is safe under of the present government. The incidents of abduction, forced disappearance and killing have become daily event. The abducted person is releasedwithin 24 hours if Prime Minister so desires, he added. Komol Academy of Pirojpur arranged the discussion on ‘Restoration of Democracy, Security of Citizen, Release of Politicians and Cancellation of the Results of Upazila Polls’. Bikalpa Dhara presidium member Prof Dr Nurul Amin Bepari also addressed the programme which was presided over by chairman of the academy Moynul Ahsan Munna in the chair.Prof Chowdhury said that the Awami League does not believe in democracy. The present government, he said, is pushing the country towards fascism. All powers are now in the hands of Prime Minister. For this reason, the country is now facing the prevailing crisis, he said. Alongside with the Awami League, he also came down heavily on Indian Congress. Referring to the landslide victory of BJP, he said that Modi has realised the psychology of the people. He also demanded release of acting editor of Amar Desh Mahmudur Rahman and reopening of closed TV channels.
