Chittagong auto rickshaw Sramik Coordination Parishad called auto rickshaw strike in city and Chittagong district areas on Thursday if the ban of auto-rickshaws in highways is withdrawn by next Wednesday.
This was disclosed by the parishad members at a rally held at Chittagogn Shaheed Minar square yesterday morning. President of Bangladesh Road Transport Sramik Federation(East zone) Mrinal Chowdury spoke on the occasion and demanded withdrawal of the order o f ban on auto rickshaw and tempos by August 12, otherwise they will enforce strike from August 13.
After the rally a memorandum was submitted to the Deputy commissioner of Chittagong and the concerned Minister, sources said. Mentionable that govt banned the 3-wheelers in highways from August 1 last.
