Australia Test batsman Joe Burns has signed for Lancashire for the 2019 season, the county cricket club announced on Friday.
The 29-year-old, who has played 14 Tests and six one-day internationals for his country, will be available for 10 county championship division two fixtures.
Burns, formerly of Leicestershire and Middlesex, told Lancashire’s official website: “Lancashire is a huge county with a fine history in the game and I am extremely excited to have the opportunity to play for the Red Rose next year.
“I’m determined to put in some match-winning contributions for the side and help Lancashire push for promotion at the first time of asking,” he added.
Lancashire were relegated from division one in September.
The county’s director of cricket, Paul Allott, said: “He strengthens our batting line-up and brings a wealth of experience into the side. He will set a fantastic example to some of our younger batsmen in the way he approaches the game, both on and off the field.”
