Auspicious start for Bangladesh in Basketball Championship

Hosts Bangladesh made a good start in the Citycell SABA 3-on-3 Basketball Championship beating Bhutan by 22-09 points in the opening match at the Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium on Tuesday.
In the day’s other matches, Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 20-09 points; Sri Lanka defeated Nepal by 17-15 points; the Maldives overcame Bhutan by 14-12 points while Nepal beat the Maldives by 18-11 points at the same venue.
Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder inaugurated the five-nation meet in the afternoon.
Head of 3X3 Sport & Data Manager of FIBA Asia Wai Sun Yoon and Head of Corporate Communications and Public Relations of Citycell Taslim Ahmed were also present as special guests. President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin was also present on the occasion.
Hosts Bangladesh will play the Maldives in the closing match on Wednesday at 4:30 pm.
Food Minister Advocate M Quamrul Islam, MP will be the chief guest at the closing function and he will distribute prizes. Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shaheed Reza and CEO of the meet sponsor Citycell Mehbub Chowdhury will also be present.
