Bangladesh got off to a good start in the maiden ICRC International T20 Cricket Tournament for people with physical disabilities beating England by 14 runs in the opening match at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prathisthan (BKSP) ground-3 on Friday.
Sent in to bat first, Bangladesh scored 117 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs with Apurbo Kumar Pal scoring the team highest 22 runs.
Drupam Patranabish Tirtho who was adjudged man of the match showed a brilliant all-round performance in the match as he knocked an effective score of 17 runs in the tail end and took 3 for 12 runs in 4 overs to help Bangladesh secure the victory.
Skipper Alam Khan and Monirujjaman scored 19 and 14 runs respectively for the side.
Flynn was the successful bowler for England taking 2 for 32 runs in his 4 overs spell. Chasing a moderate target of 118 runs, England were restricted to 103 for 7 in 20 overs.
Jason Flynn scored the highest 33 runs before he was bowled by Tirtho. Jessy Thomas Goodwin scored 31 runs and was trapped lbw by Bangladesh skipper Alam Khan.
Meanwhile, in the other match of the tournament at BKSP ground-4, Pakistan registered an emphatic 8-wicket victory over Afghanistan spurred by the tournament first fifty plus runs knocked by Matloob Qureshi.
Pakistan scored 121 runs to chase down 118 runs in 16 overs for 2 wickets to seal the victory.Apart from his unbeaten 55 runs on the way to be adjudged man of the match, Matloob Qureshi pairing with skipper Hasnain Alam contributed a 76-run in the opening stand. Hasnain Alam was out for 35 runs.
Earlier, sent in to bat first, Afghanistan scored moderate 118 run for all in 19.4 overs spurred by Mohammad Ullah’s score of 43 runs.
Pakistan bowler Umaizur Rahman captured 3 for 12 in his 4 overs.
