Our Correspondent :At least nine people have been injured as miscreants hurled crude bombs to loot jewelry shops in GPO area of the Chittagong port city. A gang of robbers hurled several crude bombs targeting two jewelry shops – Gini Jewelers and Aparupa Jewelers – located near the Hossain Shaheed Suhrawardi Sarak around 9:45pm on Saturday.Sub-Inspector Zahirul Islam at Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost said the injured were admitted to different wards of the hospital.The identity of the injured could not be ascertained, the police official said.Kotwali police station Assistant Commissioner Shah Mohammad Abdur Rouf confirmed the incident to The New Nation.The police rushed to the spot immediately, he said.He also said the robbers were not successful in looting the valuables from the shops as the area was crowded.The police are trying to find out the gang involved in the incident, he said.
