UNB, Brahmanbaria :
A young man was beaten to death in an attack by his rivals over a land-related dispute at Sayedtula village in Sarail upazila on Wednesday night.
The victim was identified as Shawkat,24, son of Abdur Rahman, a resident of the village.
Ali Arshad, officer-in-charge of Sarail Police Station, said there had been a longstanding dispute between Shawkat and his neighbour Mobarak of the village over the ownership of a piece of land.
As a sequel to the conflict, Mobarak hit Shawhat with a stick in front of the former’s house while he was returning home at about 11:30 pm, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, he was rushed to Sarail Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police arrested Mobarok on Thursday morning.
A case was filed in this connection.
