The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday sent four accused persons to the jail in a case filed for attacking a journalist during Dhaka City Corporation Election.
Magistrate Sottobroto Sikdar of the CMM Court of Dhaka passed the order on Tuesday. The accused people are- Md Alauddin Sardar, 26, Md Masud Mia, 20, Rasel Hossen Hawladar, 35, and Jahirul Islam Opu Mia, 24. On February 9, they were put on one-day remand each.
On Tuesday, Altaf Hossain, Sub-Inspector of
Mohammadpur Police Station, who is also the Investigation Officer of the case produced the four accused in the court and pleaded to keep them behind bar.
The attackers swooped on Mostafizur Rahman Sumon, a crime reporter of Online news portal Agami News, on the day of Dhaka City Corporation election. Later, Sumon was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he had to get six stitches in his head.
