The ATN Bangla 31st National Hockey Gold Cup begins today at the Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium.
A total of 32 teams splitting into eight groups are taking part in the gala hockey meet.
Marking the upcoming hockey competition, a press conference was held at the conference room of Moulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium on Wednesday. Vice-President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation (BHF) Abdur Rashid Shikder, Vice-President of BHF Khaja Rahmatullah, General Secretary of BHF Abdus Sadek, Adviser of ATN Bangla Limited Mir Motahar Hossain, Joint-Secretary of BHF Anvir Adil Khan, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Mahabub Ehsan Rana were present at the conference, among others.
ATN Bangla Limited, the sponsor of the competition has given Taka one crore to BHF for five years.
The champions will be awarded Taka one lakh, the runners-up will be given Taka fifty thousand and the third place finisher team will get Taka twenty thousand.
Besides, the highest scorer and the Man of the Tournament will be awarded Taka twenty thousand each.
The champions of each group will play in the second phase. The second phase will be held on knock out basis.
The winners of the second phase will move into the semi-finals.
The winners of the semi-finals will face each other in the final.
The winner of the final will be the champions of the hockey tournament. The final will be held on May 18.
