A four-member of Bangladesh athletics team left for Australia last night to take part in the 21st Commonwealth Games scheduled to be held from April 4-15 in the Gold Coast, Queensland.
The members of Bangladesh athletics team are Mejbah Ahmed (Bangladesh Army), Shirin Akter (Bangladesh Navy), Khurshida Khatun (coach, Bangladesh Athletics Federation (BAF)) and Farid Khan Chowdhury, observer, BAF.
The 41-memebr Bangladesh contingent will represent in six disciplines — shooting, athletics, swimming, weightlifting wrestling and boxing — events in the games.
Shooting team was the first batch to go in Australia on March 24 to participate in the Game. Bangladesh will start their Games campaign with swimming, boxing and weightlifting events on April 5.
The athletics team is expected to return home on April 13.
