A Dhaka court on Monday rejected the bail petition of Mind Aid Hospital’s director Fatema Khatun in a case filed following the death of Senior ASP Anisul Karim Shipon at the hospital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Nivana Khayer Jessi passed the order after hearing on the case.Monir Ahmed, police’s deputy inspector, confirmed the matter.
Earlier on Sunday, another Dhaka court granted bail to National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) registrar Dr Abdullah Al Mamun in the same case.
It is learnt that Anisul Karim Shipon, the assistant commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police’s traffic department, had been suffering from severe mental illness. He died at the Mind Aid Hospital on November 9 soon after the admission.
Later, a video of beating Shipon in the Aggressive Management Room of the hospital has gone viral on social media.
On the following day, his father filed a murder case with Adabar Police Station.
