Aslam’s remand hearing May 30

A Dhaka court on Tuesday set May 30 for hearing on the remand plea of police against BNP Joint Secretary General Aslam Chowdhury in two violence cases.
Magistrate Abdullah Al Masud of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka fixed the date after hearing on the remand plea. Earlier, police produced the BNP leader in the court on completion of the seven-day remand granted on May 16. This time, police prayed for remand for 20 days in two sabotage cases filed against him with Lalbagh and Motijheel Police Stations for vandalizing
vehicles and explosion of bombs.
On May 16, Metropolitan Magistrate Sharafuzzaman granted the remand picked up to quiz him about his alleged conspiracy with Israeli spy agency Mossad. He was at Kuril Biswa Road area of the city on May 15 within hours of imposition of a travel ban on him. Earlier, a general diary was also registered against the accused under section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
